Merz receive project for calculating the number of persons inside a lift |
Merz have received a project from MS Invent with the aim of demonstrating how stereoscopy can be used to calculate the number of people outside and inside a lift, when a camera is placed at the top.
The system should contain the following functionalities:
- A functional sample of a camera system that can be used for counting the number of people in front of a lift, and, if solvable, also inside the cabin.
- A functional sample of a software that can run on a common PC with a web camera connected.
- In front of the door to a lift, the system is supposed to announce one of the four possible states:
- No persons
- Individual people (a number)
- A group of people
- A queue of people
- The threshold for individual states should be adjustable by a user (e.g. when a group of people becomes a queue of people).
- Inside the cabin, the system is supposed to announce only the occupancy by objects of a certain size (not only people, but also hospital beds, transported goods, boxes, etc.).
- Ideally, the system should be independent from lighting (the system could have its own source of light).
- The system should not be influenced by changes of temperature.
