Input data for the system are represented by orders introduced either automatically by synchronization with the superior system (usually ERP) or entered manually. The planning operator has an overview of planned and unplanned orders that may be allocated to existing production capacities (planned) either manually or through an appropriate automatic method. While preparing the schedules and plans the following functions may be used:
- manual planning and adjustments
- fully automatic planning and allocation based on optimization algorithms (APS-type system)
- separation and splicing of production batches
- locking of unplanned production batches in time
- direct (e.g. availability of capacity at a given time) and indirect (e.g. material allocation) inspections
- saving/loading of schedule to XML file
- displaying of schedule by means of a Gantt chart
- graphic interpretation of the use of secondary resources
- operative changes in planning of production within a few minutes
